LOL I’m an atheist and I celebrate Christmas suck on that!

i just want presents

If religious people actually believe that Christmas still belongs to them, they’ve got to be the most delusional fuckheads on earth. Christmas is presents now. Christmas is Santa Claus now. And, at its heart, it’s about being with family and making people feel good and giving. Not to say that religious people aren’t allowed to enjoy those Christian traditions like going to church or putting up a nativity scene, but don’t hate those who don’t.
Because Christmas is for everyone, goddamnit!

thank you ^

Christmas as we know it isn’t even Christian. It was never their major holiday. It was Easter, and that still holds the most meaning. Christmas was the winter solstice long before it was Christian. It’s an ancient tradition. There’s Stonehenge, there’s Newgrange and countless others that were used as places of celebration for it. Christianity itself is an amalgamation of traditions, it absorbed other people’s folk songs and traditions in order to obtain a bigger following.
Christmas is essentially a human holiday celebrating rebirth. Get over yourselves.

I am an atheist and I celebrate christmas, not for the birth of christ or whatever, it’s grown into a family holiday as a time to spend with your family, yes you can celebrate jesus’ birth but let people celebrate it in their own way, it’s not fair denying people of the chance to celebrate a holiday

It makes me laugh because Jesus wasn’t even both December 25th. I’m an atheist, even I know that.
I don’t celebrate the birth of Jesus. I celebrate life. I celebrate spending time with my loved ones and being thankful for who I am, and knowing the people who love me.
Not because some made up fairy tale told me to. Fuck that shit.

I was brought up as a Christian, so I can understand all the stuff that Christians say about it being a religious festival and all that shit, but I’m agnostic now, but more atheist, and I know that the Christian religion is just an amalgamation of a load of other religions, two examples: The traditional view of the Christian God is the same as that of Zeus, the Greek God, and they got that image from the Roman mythology, who got pretty much all their Gods from the Greek mythology and simply changed their names, and Christianity got their view of God from the Romans. Christmas is, as one of the people above rightly said, a pagan festival. It celebrates the winter solistice, and it was never the birth of Christ. Besides, if it was purely a religious festival then all Christians would celebrate it on the same day right? Wrong. The French celebrate Christmas on the 6th January, which is when they recieve their presents, as that was when they believe the 3 Wise Men arrived to visit Jesus. However in the Bible it says that Jesus was visited by the 3 Wise Men just after he was born right? So that means his birthday is on the 6th January…I personally don’t know when his birthday is and don’t really care. Christmas is no longer a religious festival, sure let the religions celebrate it, but it has turned into a worldwide holiday celebrated in America, Japan, China, Britain, France, a mass of countries celebrate Christmas, so whilst there are some people who say Christmas is a religious festival, they can do. But don’t tell us that you have to be religious to celebrate it. It’s a holiday and it’s our damn choice whether to celebrate it or not.
